New Release: Guatemala Natural from Fraijanes Plateau
Our first coffee from Guatemala. We waited for one that was truly special.
Guatemala has never featured in our lineup before, not by intention, but by patience. We were waiting for the right one.
This is it.
Grown by Enrique Duarte on his farm, Finca Barillas, in the Fraijanes Plateau of central Guatemala, this lot carries both pedigree and character.
The varietal, Centroamericano, is a modern F1 hybrid developed from Rume Sudan and T5296. It’s recognised for its cup quality and resilience, a variety built for both excellence and longevity.
Why does this particular variety matter? Because it often brings a very clean, crisp profile that balances the wildness of a Natural process perfectly.
Fraijanes is a high-altitude volcanic region, officially recognised by Anacafé as one of Guatemala’s distinct coffee-growing areas. Mineral-rich soils, cool nights and clearly defined seasons allow the cherries to mature slowly, developing clarity, structure and natural sweetness.
This lot is naturally processed, dried with the fruit intact. The result is a layered, fruit-forward cup with vibrant acidity and generous body.
A first for us, and one we’re proud to present.
Guatemala is known for producing some of the most structured and expressive coffees in the world, and the Fraijanes Plateau is one of its most distinctive regions. This Guatemala Natural from Finca Barillas showcases how volcanic soils, high altitude and careful processing come together to create a vibrant, fruit-forward cup. For those exploring specialty Guatemalan coffees, this release highlights the unique character that the Fraijanes region can produce.
